Nog een nieuwe reality serie die de moeite waard kan zijn.
Can you commit the perfect crime and get away with it? If so, ABC has a new reality TV series made just for you.
The network just ordered six episodes of Take the Money and Run, the new reality show produced by Jerry Bruckheimer TV. Reading the title (which, by the way, is awesome), the show's premise is fairly obvious -- steal things successfully. But right now, those are the only deets we got.
ABC hopes Take the Money and Run will be as successful as Bruckheimer's other reality show, The Amazing Race, which has won seven Emmy's since its creation in 2001. And honestly, that wouldn't be too much of a surprise. Everyone knows that America loves their reality TV, and although most shows in the genre tend to be extremely lame (example: virtually all of VH1's programming), Take the Money and Run seems promising.
Here's the deal. Shows like The Amazing Race or Survivor are entertaining because, although they say they're "reality," they really aren't. The viewers at home aren't going to throw themselves onto an island in the middle of the ocean or canoe down the Amazon river while getting chased by alligators. But they are going to watch someone like them do those things. And that right there is the reality of it.
So, if TV viewers could watch other people try to break into banks or businesses and steal a whole bunch of money, why wouldn't they? Hell, I might even watch that.
